PSEG Long Island is Prepared for Heavy Rain and High Winds
With heavy rain and strong winds forecasted to hit our area today and into tomorrow, all PSEG Long Island employees and contractors are ready to respond to any damage caused by the storm. We have also arranged access to additional contractors should they be needed to restore power.
Winds are likely to be strong this afternoon through Monday morning. The heavy rain is expected to measure between 1 and 3 inches across Long Island and the Rockaways.
Reach out if you need us, 24/7:
By Text: The easiest way to report an outage is with MyAlerts: Text OUT to PSEGLI (773454). To register, first text REG.
Online: Report an outage and stay informed with our mobile-friendly outage map. It’s updated every 15 minutes with information including an estimated restoration time and outage cause.
By Phone: Call our electric emergency number: 1-800-490-0075. Downed wires should only be reported by phone.
Social: From morning to evening, we will respond to outages reported on Facebook and on Twitter.
- If you see ANY downed wire, assume it is a live electric wire. Stay away from it, keep others away and call us immediately, anytime at 1-800-490-0075. If a wire falls on your vehicle, stay inside until help arrives. If you MUST get out of the vehicle because it is on fire, jump as far as possible away from the vehicle, with both feet landing on the ground at the same time, and hop or shuffle away.
- NEVER operate a generator in an enclosed space, including an open garage. Carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless and potentially deadly gas can be produced.
- Make sure everyone in the family is prepared and knows what to do if there is an emergency. Visit our website for safety tips from Sesame Street, YouTube safety videos and more.
